West Bengal Police SI Recruitment 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognized university or its equivalent to apply for this recruitment.
Language:
The person applying needs to know how to speak, read, and write Bengali. But if they live permanently in the hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts, they don’t need to meet this requirement. Instead, they have to follow the rules outlined in the West Bengal Official Language Act, of 1961.
Age Limit:
The applicant needs to be at least 20 years old but not over 30 years old as of January 1, 2024. There are exceptions to the upper age limit 5 years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates, 3 years for Other Backward Classes-A and Other Backward Classes-B candidates, and 3 years for Transgender persons.
Departmental candidates of West Bengal Police with the required qualifications can be up to 35 years old. For them, there are additional relaxations: 5 years for Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe candidates, 3 years for Other Backward Classes – A & Other Backward Classes – B candidates, and 3 years for Transgender persons.
WB Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment 2024 Selection Process
The West Bengal Police, select Sub-Inspectors through a structured process. Initially, candidates take a written exam. Following that, their physical measurements are assessed to determine their fitness level. Subsequently, they undergo physical exercises to evaluate their strength and endurance. Written Test (Maximum Score – 85):
Candidates who are preliminarily deemed eligible will be invited to participate in a Preliminary Examination. This exam will cover General Studies, Logical & Analytical Reasoning, and Arithmetic, with a total score of 200 (100 marks for General Studies with 50 questions, 50 marks for Logical & Analytical Reasoning with 25 questions, and 50 marks for Arithmetic with 25 questions). The duration of the exam is 90 minutes.
The purpose of the preliminary examination is to screen candidates for the Physical Measurement Test and Physical Efficiency Test. The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board will determine the minimum cutoff marks for each social category and position based on the number of vacancies in each category and position. The preliminary examination will consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) on an OMR sheet. The question paper will be available in both English and Bengali.

b) Paper II: English, worth 50 marks, lasting 1 hour.
c) Paper-III: Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali, worth 50 marks, lasting 1 hour.
Note: Paper-I will be available in three languages (English, Bengali, and Nepali), and candidates can choose any one language for their answers.
Personality Test (Full Marks – 30):
